My Birthday at Costco

Costco Celebration

Some of my favorite things include my family, shopping, and affordable food. Somewhere I can experience these three things is at Costco! It’s like the Disneyland of grocery stores. Kyler got off work early, so the kids and I drove into the city to meet him at the warehouse. This time of year Costco displays include a lot of Halloween merchandise. We loved walking through each aisle to see different spooky light up displays and costumes. Next, we stopped to admire and smell the flowers in the floral section. We traveled deeper into the store to experience all the different food and drink samples being offered. My kids are the best at pointing out all the sample carts. We tried samples of noodles, chips, German sausages, flavored water, and cheese sauces. The perfect appetizers before ending our Costco trip at the food court. Inflation hasn’t touched the $1.50 hot dog and drink since the 1980s! One of my other food court favorites is the vanilla berry sundae. My family and I love Costco and it was the perfect place for me to spend my birthday!

My Birthday Card

My three year old daughter gave me a card the morning of my birthday. On the front of the card she drew me, my son, and herself in front of our home. She told me, “It’s a picture of us waiting for Daddy to come home.” Kyler’s intern year of residency has kept him very busy. He usually leaves the house to go to the hospital before the kids wake up. This means most days the first time the kids get to see him that day is in the evenings when he gets home. On the back of the card she drew a family picture of us united. It’s probably our favorite part of the day, when Daddy comes home.

Turning Twenty-seven

I found a white hair on my head last week. My vainness made me pluck it out as soon as I discovered it. It must be a welcome to twenty-seven gift for myself.
Before I had children, one of my biggest fears was growing older. Becoming a mother has changed me though. I now fear not getting to grow old to see my children experience life. I want to be there in my children’s lives as long as I can. Some of the greatest joys in my life have been given to me by my children. I have never been a more selfless and grateful person than since becoming a mom.
Motherhood has also made me love more deeply. My children make me love my mother and everything she has done for me more now. I better understand and appreciate the sacrifices my mom made for me since becoming a mom myself.
I love my husband more now than I thought I did when I married him. I’m grateful for the family we’ve made and get to raise together.
Each white hair I may get is a reminder that God has blessed me to continue growing with my children. Truly a blessing even if I don’t like the look of it on myself, haha.
